How to create a climate declaration

The work to calculate the environmental impact for a climate declaration is the same as for the EPD. A detailed description of the process is available on the international EPD ® system's home page (www.environdec.com).

The five steps to create a climate declaration are:

1. Find the appropriate PCR document

Find the PCR (product category rules for environmental product declarations) that are relevant for the product. A library of PCR documents is available at www.environdec.com.

PCR for my product is missing

2. Gather the information
Do the data collection and calculations required according to the PCR. This includes collecting specific data from the own manufacturing, and general data from the designated databases.

3. Compile the information
It is now time to compile the information needed to establish a climate declaration. The information can be found here.

4. Verification and control
Contact an independent verifier for review and verification of the calculations and the final climate declaration. A list of accredited and approved verifiers can be found here.

5. Registration
Register the climate declaration at the IEC, you can find the registration form here. The climate declaration will then be published on this website for an international audience.
