Product Category Rules (PCR)

Product category rules, shortened PCR, is a form of guidance and rules for the collection of data and other information, how the calculations should be done to transfer the data to the climate impact and how this information should be presented.

Generally, each product that is unique should have an own PCR, this would in theory lead to a plethora of different PCR documents. Work with PCR, however, can be simplified significantly when the various product groups have the same raw materials, composition, types of components, etc., and thus should the same set of general rules be applicable to a large number of similar products.

A PCR applicable for my product is missing
If there is no PCR developed for the product to be declared, you will need to develop one. To assist that work a number of “ready-made” PCR modules describe the rules which apply for different product categories

The PCR process is carried out in an open process in which various stakeholders have the opportunity to comment. This is important to make the PCR documents of as high quality as possible. When all relevant comments are incorporated into the PCR it is approved and established by a technical committee.
