Read a Climate Declaration

The climate declaration contains an account of the emissions of greenhouse gases that product or service creates. The data presented in the climate declaration is verified by an independent third party and can therefore be regarded as credible. It is not necessarily so that a climate declared product is better than one that is not. To evaluate the data is the readers responsibility. As the number of climate declarations grows it also increases the possibility to make comparisons between different products.

The account of greenhouse gas emissions for a product or service in the climate declaration could be presented in different ways. Below you can see some examples from climate declarations.

Examples of climate declarations

 

Cerelia, an Italian company which produces mineral water, presents the difference in emissions of greenhouse gases between packaging material in glass and PET. Emissions are shown for 1, 000 liters of water in different packages. Read the climate declaration here
